Strong growth puts software testing firm ahead of three-year business plan

Software firm Edge Testing Solutions has seen a rise in full year revenue and profits – placing it ahead of its three-year development plan.
The firm, which is undertaking a large expansion of its Birmingham operation, achieved full year revenue of £10.1m surpassing the three-year business plan put together in 2014 to reach £10m turnover by 2016.
In addition to the revenue rise, operating profit was up by 5% to over £1.3m and the firm said the acquisition of new blue-chip clients and contract wins provided the platform for continued growth in the current year and beyond.
Turnover is forecast to reach £13m this year with a new business plan for organic growth targeted to achieve £20m by 2020.
Now in its tenth year of trading Edge has seen year-on-year growth and its workforce has grown to more than 250 people.
It is planning on creating 60 jobs at its operation in Quayside Tower in Broad Street, where it is developing a second Digital Test Hub.
This puts the firm on track to reach 300 employees by the end of 2017.
Edge originally launched the Digital Test Hub concept in 2013 in Bellshill, near Glasgow – the first of its kind in the UK. It was founded to meet requirements for a low-cost, on-demand testing service supplied within the UK.
Brian Ferrie, CEO of Edge Testing Solutions, said: “These results demonstrate another good year for the company. It is through the team’s continued hard work, professionalism and passion for what they do blended with Edge’s ethos of providing a world-class service to its customers that drives the success.
“Our customer base is very loyal but that is only because of the reputation that we have for delivery excellence and managing relationships. We are competing with or working alongside a lot of larger organisations in many situations but the feedback I receive on our expertise and the service we provide clearly sets us apart from the others.”
The firm’s client base is drawn from the financial services sector, telecommunications and media, utilities, retail and the public sector. Client retention is high with a high proportion of firms having used the group’s services for more than three years.
