Care home development to create 150 jobs

Cleobury Mortimer care home

A Shropshire care home will create 150 jobs when it opens in spring next year.

Capulet Care is developing Cleobury Hills, a centre that will specialise in care for people over 50 who are suffering from mental illness.

The company already operates two care homes in south Staffordshire.

Building work has now begun after a six-month delay caused by the discovery of a badger sett. The company worked with ecologists and Natural England to relocate the badgers to a different part of the site.

The 60-bed home is now expected to open next April.

Juliet Briggs, owner of Cleobury Hills, said: “I am thrilled that work is now underway on our new state of the art care home.

“Cleobury Hills will provide much needed care services for adults with mental illness and nursing needs in the local area and I am pleased to say that 150 new jobs will be created as a result of the opening, across all areas of the business.”

The scheme in Cleobury Mortimer is being supported by a £4.4m funding deal from Royal Bank of Scotland.

Royal Bank of Scotland’s healthcare relationship director Darren Vander said: “The plans for the new property are very impressive and we are looking forward to working with the team and aiding its completion next year.”
