Property consultancy expands UK presence with Birmingham office

Alpha Birmingham

Planning and regeneration consultancy Nexus Planning has expanded its national footprint with the launch of a new office in Birmingham.

The Birmingham office is the firm’s fourth location, joining its existing teams located in London, Manchester and Thames Valley.

The Birmingham operation, based at Alpha Tower, is being led by managing director Roger Tustain. The office is supported by a staff of five planners, all of whom have experience of projects in Birmingham and the wider Midlands area.

The move was prompted by a spate of appointments to major schemes in the city. These include the redevelopment of the locally listed Smallbrook Queensway (SBQ) buildings with offices and a 26-storey residential tower; a major canal-side regeneration scheme in the city centre and the Local Plan promotion. It is also providing planning advice for a new 3,000-home development at Gaydon in Warwickshire.

The addition of the Birmingham office coincides with a brand refresh for the business, which has seen a doubling of its team and turnover since it was launched four years ago.

Mr Tustain said: “Having spent the very early part of my professional career with the city council, it is exciting to return to Birmingham, a city and a region that is undergoing major positive urban change.

“The proposed commercial, residential and infrastructure growth will present many interesting challenges for the local authorities within the region, as well as major investment opportunities for our clients over the next few years. Because of this, Birmingham is a natural location for the next step of Nexus Planning’s growth, complementing our strategy of focusing on the Manchester to London north-south corridor.

“We have already undertaken a number of large-scale projects in Birmingham and the surrounding areas, and the new office provides a great base for managing and expanding our portfolio of projects and clients across the region.”
