West Midlands Police appoints auction firm to handle assets recovered from crime

West Midlands Police has appointed an auction firm to manage the disposal and valuation services for crime recovered, found and other property.

The one-year contract awarded to Wilsons Auctions, with an opportunity to extend for a further 12 months, will see the company manage the full process of assets ranging from electrical goods, jewellery, artwork, memorabilia.

Peter Johnston, group operations director at Wilsons Auctions, said: “We are delighted to be working with West Midlands Police managing the disposal of their recovered assets. Securing a contract with the second largest police force in the UK is testament to the great work carried out by our ever-expanding asset recovery department.

“Wilsons Auctions is proud to manage the asset recovery for over 40 law enforcement agencies across the UK, Ireland and further afield which continues to grow. In recent years we have been responsible for realising in excess of £100m worth of assets which has been returned to the public purse.”
