A new property auctions business that is on a mission to disrupt the Midlands market has unveiled its award winning team – with many familiar faces.

Bond Wolfe Auctions was launched earlier this month by property consultancy Bond Wolfe and will be led by chief executive Gurpreet Bassi and managing director Ian Tudor.

Bond Wolfe was co-founded by Gurpreet’s uncle, Paul Bassi, in 1983 and he remains non-executive chairman of the business. Bond Wolfe’s managing director James Mattin is a director and shareholder of the new auctions business.

Gurpreet Bassi and Ian Tudor were both at CP Bigwood when it was bought by Nottingham-based SDL in 2016, with Bassi becoming head of residential and Tudor head of commercial auctions at the SDL Auctions Bigwood’s business.

They are among at least 10 staff who left SDL’s Birmingham office in the final months of 2018, many of whom had been part of the Bigwood team.

The team currently numbers 11, with four new members of staff due to join in the next few weeks.

The new additions, all ex-SDL employees, include Sue Randell, marketing director, Ron Darlington, consultant director, Teresa Allen, accounts manager, Jonathan Hackett, consultant director, Perm Daley, auction manager, Aimee Rossiter, assistant auction manager, James Rossiter, auction valuer, Kylie Pearson, executive PA and Damien Triplett, auction negotiator.

Bassi said: “This is an experienced and award-winning team that has an enviable track record, made up of established auction property professionals with large existing client networks.”

The team behind Bond Wolfe Auctions produced the largest-ever Midlands’ auction – 172 lots in May 2018 – and hasn’t held an auction below 100 lots or achieved a sales success rate below 80% in over three years.

Last year, those now working for Bond Wolfe Auctions were responsible for raising a Midlands record of just under £95m in sales and set another Midlands record of 680 properties sold at auction.

Bond Wolfe Auctions is based in Colmore Row, Birmingham, with offices in West Bromwich and Wolverhampton, from where team members service clients including businesses, housing associations, banks, receivers and property investors.

Tudor said: “We are encouraged by a very busy start to the New Year and have been overwhelmed by the support from clients old and new. We look forward to welcoming many of them to our first auction on Wednesday 13 March at Villa Park.”
