Country house hotel up for sale

A country house hotel in the village of Abbot’s Salford on the Worcestershire-Warwickshire border is up for sale.

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has brought to the market Salford Hall, a Grade I listed, three star hotel.

The buildings comprise a former manor house which dates back to the late 15th century and Tudor Court, a converted granary and barn which dates back to the early 17th century.

Originally built as a guest house for the monks of nearby Evesham Abbey, the hotel features 36 guest bedrooms, with 15 in the manor house and 21 in Tudor Court.

Operating under the Best Western brand, the current owner, Andrew Moore, has decided the sell the freehold in order to retire.
He said: “Apart from being a helicopter pilot and construction engineer I ended up with three fine hotels and have immensely enjoyed being involved with my three daughters in operating them. Over the past fifty years, I have learnt a vast amount and met some terrific people. My real thanks go to all those who have helped me along the way, and I could not have done it without their dedication and endless support.”

Joshua Sullivan, senior business agent at Christie & Co who is handling the sale, added: “Salford Hall is a classic country manor hotel set in an affluent location which presents a unique opportunity for a first time entrant or an experienced operator to acquire a trophy asset with the ability to add value. There is also scope to expand upon the existing leisure, wedding and corporate trade with the addition of 10 further bedrooms and a spa facility which it previously had planning consent for.”

Christie & Co is marketing Salford Hall Hotel off an asking price of £2.75m for the freehold interest.
