Two Solihull-based GP surgeries have moved into a larger modern medical centre, increasing capacity and introducing more services, after landing a £4.6m funding package from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking.

Green Lane Surgery and Arran Medical Centre have upgraded to a newly-developed 1,360 sq m premises on Burtons Way.

The £4.6m funding was used to build the new medical centre complete with eight GP consulting rooms, three further healthcare assistant rooms and four treatment rooms.

The new premises, which is also home to other healthcare tenants including physiotherapy, midwifery and a dentist, has enabled the surgeries to increase their capacity and offer patients a new service with the addition of a minor surgery room.

Green Lane Surgery and Arran Medical Centre employ three and two doctors respectively and although they are currently operating independently from one another and have separate patient databases, they have plans to take a more collaborative approach in the future.

Dr Lekha Thomas, lead GP at Green Lane Surgery, said: “This is an exciting new chapter for Green Lane Surgery and Arran Medical Centre as we settle into our upgraded modern premises. A larger medical centre is needed to keep pace with wider investment in our local infrastructure. The area is thriving thanks to the recent addition of a new school and a convenience store, and now residents can access state-of-the-art medical facilities, too.”

Jon Saltinstall, senior healthcare banking consultant at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, said: “Our latest Healthcare Confidence Index shows that GP’s confidence is at an all-time high. It’s great to see local providers such as Green Lane Surgery and Arran Medical Centre reflecting this trend through the recent expansion.”
