With voting to elect the next mayor of the West Midlands due to take place on 6 May 2021, join us to hear from some candidates bidding to secure the position.
The CBI, TheBusinessDesk.com and other partners are bringing together mayoral candidates to offer you the opportunity to hear their plans and priorities, as well as providing a platform for you to raise questions to them directly.
The next election in the West Midlands is a key element of the region’s vision and prosperity. The mayor has significant powers and influences a key range of issues affecting people’s lives and businesses in the region including economic growth, transport, housing, skills and labour markets.
The mayor also has responsibility and oversight for the West Midlands Combined Authority’s £900m budget for funding infrastructure, regeneration and job training schemes to support the region’s recovery from COVID-19.

Another key role of the mayor is to serve as an advocate and global ambassador for the West Midlands region, helping to build trade links and attract inward investment, a vital element as the UK takes its position as a global leader following the UK’s exit from the European Union.
