City centre student scheme gets backing from planning bosses

How the scheme would look

Plans for a 184-bed student scheme on a former Birmingham City Council car park have given the backing of planning chiefs in the city.

The Sama Investments scheme on Lawson Street sits on land that was bought from the city council last Autumn.

Birmingham City Council’s planning committee will vote on the scheme when it sits next Thursday (February 24).

The plans outline 76 studio and 20 cluster flats across nine floors. Also included will be a games room, lounge, yoga room and gym. There will also be space for 55 cycles, while the 6th floor will provide a roof lounge.

Velo Student Living will manage the scheme, should it be voted through.
