Wine bar group faces uncertain future

Vinoteca is facing an uncertain future, after posting a notice of intention to appoint administrators.

The wine bar firm began operating across London in 2005. From there, it has grown to five venues which offer an extensive wine list, food and wine tasting events and on-site shops.

Vinoteca closed its Birmingham operations at Two Chamberlain Square in May after difficult trading conditions during and post-pandemic, rising costs, inflation, spiralling energy charges and regular train strikes, meant the company was unable to continue to grow in the city.

It was Birmingham’s largest wine bar at 4,500 sq ft, with 150 covers set across a ground and mezzanine floor, 40 seats on the outdoor terrace, and an on-site wine shop.

Vinoteca has been contacted for comment, with no immediate response.
