Birmingham aparthotel marks completion with opening of convenience store

A 161-bed aparthotel has been completed in Birmingham, with the opening of a convenience store.

SevenCapital acquired the Royal Angus Hotel in 2020 and has transformed the building into a serviced aparthotel made up of 84 studios, 71 one-bedroom and 6 two-bedroom apartments across nine floors.

It appointed Switch Hospitality Management to manage the asset, which has added to the firm’s growing asset management portfolio, which includes flagship hotel Park Regis Birmingham, Holiday Inn Express Birmingham South and the re-opening of the fully refurbished Nite Nite hotel in Central Birmingham.

Covering 1,200 sq ft, the Nisa store features elements that blend with the overall design of the aparthotel.

It will be the first of its kind in any UK aparthotel to carry Co-op and Costa branded items.

John Angus, managing director of Switch Hospitality Management said: “From the initial design stages, we wanted to ensure that every aspect of aparthotel Birmingham would create the ultimate guest experience, regardless of whether they’re here to enjoy a weekend away with the kids, or staying with us during the week as they work away from home.

“The final addition of an on-site shop means that guests can pick up all the essentials they might need throughout their stay, from fresh ingredients to cook a meal in their apartment, to a hot breakfast on the way to work, or their favourite branded products that have been left at home.

“It is brilliant to see the completion of this industry-leading redevelopment, which I believe perfectly demonstrates how Switch’s expertise has allowed us to deliver maximum outcomes for our clients and the gold-standard of service for our guests.”

Phil Howell, key account manager at Nisa, said: “This is such a unique opportunity to launch a Nisa store within an aparthotel complex and I’ve got full confidence this venture will be extremely successful. We share many similar values with aparthotel in terms of the quality and convenience and I’m really looking forward to seeing the growth opportunities between Nisa and aparthotel in the coming years.”
