Housing association secures brownfield site for new development

Housing association Bromford has finalised the purchase of a site in Brierley Hill marking a step forward in its mission to provide affordable housing in the region.
The site, a historical brownfield plot allocated for residential use by Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council in 2017, was acquired from Harworth and will deliver 50 new homes.
With full planning permission in place, work is expected to begin soon.
Homes England has funded the development, which will feature a mix of 16 two-bedroom maisonettes, 14 three-bedroom houses for affordable rent and 20 three-bedroom homes available through the shared ownership scheme.
Lyndon Parkes, Bromford’s head of land said: “So far this year, we’ve secured land for 175 affordable homes, creating opportunities for people to access quality housing in areas where it’s needed most. Sites like Brierley Hill allow us to make better use of brownfield land, turning it into a place where residents can thrive.
“With thousands of families on housing waiting lists in areas like Dudley, we are dedicated to increasing housing supply and meeting demand. As the country’s leading developer of social rent homes, we’ll continue to identify opportunities to secure land and provide homes that support communities.”
