Manufacturers urged to show the MACH factor

MANUFACTURERS from the West Midlands must show they have the MACH Factor if they want to take advantage of a special display facility at a forthcoming trade exhibition.

MACH 2010 takes place at the National Exhibition Centre between June 7-11 and will feature the best in cutting-edge technology.

The Manufacturing Advisory Service – West Midlands (MAS-WM), Semta, Advantage West Midlands and UK Trade and Investment have joined forces to create the special platform on which companies will be able to promote themselves and their products.

The special Made in the Midlands area will be fully accessible to the thousands of delegates expected to attend the trade show.

The display area will be large enough for more than 10 firms and organisers are calling on companies interested in using the facility to contact them and explain why they should be given space.

Simon Griffiths, chief executive of MAS-WM, said: “The West Midlands is home to some unique technologies and products so what better way to celebrate this fact than at one of the industry’s biggest shows and one that attracts buyers from all over the UK and overseas.

“Our natural innovation and eye for an opportunity has seen us lead the way in medical technologies, low carbon advancements and in revolutionising the way traditional sectors operate like automotive, aerospace and construction.”

He said the Made in the Midlands stand would bring all this expertise together on one platform for the first time and would hopefully give the region’s manufacturers the opportunity to build new relationships and secure business opportunities.

The competition for space, dubbed The MACH Factor, is being supported by AWM and UKTI. It is open to all engineers and manufacturers in the region and applications have to be submitted to Rita Davey c/o rdavey@semta.org.uk by April 22.

Feedback will be given by April 27 and successful companies will then be asked to pay a token contribution of £250 to cover the heavily subsidised exhibition costs.

MACH 2010 is one of the most established UK showcases for the latest manufacturing industry, highlighting the latest technologies. This year’s event will showcase the latest developments in metalcutting, CAD/CAM, engineering lasers and rapid prototyping.

This year will see the eventual introduction of four new zones, ranging from education and supplier through to grinding and solutions for business.
