Ladies’ Day looks odds on success

FASHION and fillies will be the focus of attention at Warwick Racecourse later this month as the venue goes head-to-head with rival Ascot by staging its own Ladies’ Day event.
The racecourse wants the event, on Thursday, June 17, to be a local alternative to the Ascot tradition.
Race enthusiasts are being urged to don their classiest garments and extravagant headwear in order to enjoy the occasion and raise money in the process.
The event is being hosted by Coventry and Leamington-based accountants Harrison Beale and Owen, which has teamed up with international peace-building charity Cord, which is also based in Leamington.
Cord works to help rebuild communities and homes, provide education and promote a peaceful future in areas badly affected by conflict.
Mark Ashfield, event organiser and director at Harrison Beale and Owen, said: “The event may be called Ladies’ Day but it is open to everyone, male or female, and we look forward to seeing as many people as possible in attendance.
“It promises to be a fantastic event for all involved and we are excited about bringing a touch of glamour to the fantastic venue at Warwick Racecourse.”
Gates will open at 12.30pm and there will be a total of six races with the first race at 2.20pm and the final race at 5.50pm.
Entrance is priced at £72 plus VAT, which entitles guests to a finger buffet lunch and champagne in a private suite.
There is also the option of sponsoring one of the races at a cost of £1,500 which allows the sponsor to name the race, place branding around the racecourse, erect a trade stand on site and have branding on race badges and cards.
Sponsors will also get a behind the scenes tour of the racecourse and further exposure for their company through interviews on the winner’s podium and the chance to present the trophy for their race.
Admission fees and sponsorship packages all include a donation to Cord.
