Solihull firm secures major deal with Chinese IT giant

A SOLIHULL IT firm has secured a major coup by being selected by a Chinese company to be its sole reselling agent in the UK.

Amillan supplies bespoke IP-based voice and data networking, contact centre, unified communications and mobility services to the public and private sectors.

It has recently completed projects at Bournville College and Warwickshire’s new £32m Edgbaston stadium, while it also works for the NEC Group and All England Tennis club Wimbledon. It is also a preferred supplier for Microsoft, Alcatel-Lucent and IPFX.

It is this pedigree which has impressed systems supplier Huawei Enterprise, which is looking to expand into the West and provide major completion for the likes of Microsoft and Apple.

David Poskett, Huawei’s UK channel director, said: “Amillan has a strong reputation not only for its depth of knowledge across a broad range of technologies but also in proven customer satisfaction and demonstrates excellent integration skills.  It is an innovative company with an impressive portfolio of prestigious customers and an ideal partner to take Huawei’s integrated range of products to market.”

Huawei is a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, with a workforce of more than 120,000 – around half which are engaged in R&D activities.  Huawei’s annual revenues exceed £18bn ($28bn).

Its Enterprise arm is tasked with providing communications solutions and services to customers worldwide. Its services span network infrastructure, unified communications and collaboration, cloud computing and data centre management.

Richard Reid, strategic development director at Amillan, said: “Huawei is a strong new entrant into the UK Enterprise space, and its broad range of technologies create a valuable addition to Amillan’s expanding portfolio.”

Amillan will use the new contract as a springboard for further growth during 2012 and build on a range of existing contracts with the likes of Dixons Retail, The Ticket Factory, Swinton Insurance, Halfords, and University of Westminster.

It has taken on new business development staff and is targeting opportunities across the UK.
