Birmingham office market steady

TAKE up figures for the central Birmingham market for the last quarter of 2011 reflect around 190,000 sq ft of space in 40 deals.

Details released by the Birmingham Office Market Forum show that over the year the take up figures – 140 deals, 668,392 sq ft – are at a very similar level to the 2010 figures, with both years being in line with the long- term average. The market was boosted by the arrival of the Law Society/Solicitors Regulatory Authority at the Cube at the end of the year.

Jonathan Carmalt, director of Jones Lang LaSalle in Birmingham, said: “The fact that the take up figures have held up, continues to demonstrate the resilience of the central Birmingham office market.”
