JLR continue climbing with 47% lift in sales

GLOBAL sales of Jaguar Land Rover climbed by 47% last month compared with June 2009.

Parent company Tata Motors announced that 20,189 vehicles were bought with 6,776 of them being Jaguar and 13,413 of them Land Rovers.

Jaguar sales were up 59% year-on-year while Land Rover’s sales were up 41%. Month-on-month comparisons show that the figures appear to be stabilising, with 5,120 sales of Jaguar in May 2010 and 13,933 of Land Rover.

Cumulative sales of Jaguar Land Rover for the fiscal year are 57,153 vehicles, a climb of 59%.

Cumulative sales of Jaguar are 15,455 vehicles, a rise of 33%, while cumulative sales of Land Rover are 41,698 vehicles, up by 71%.

In May 2010, Land Rover chalked up 3,040 UK vehicle sales which was a year-on-year increase of 64%.

Range Rover, which commemorated its 40th birthday last month, was the strongest performer showing a 121% improvement in vehicle registrations.

Globally in May, the Land Rover Freelander 2 continued to be the best-selling model with sales up 23.3% in the year to date, with more than 23,000 vehicles sold.
