Two Snowhill developing nicely

THE Two Snowhill development in Birmingham city centre is on course to be finished by the end of the year.

The 14-storey, £45m development will soon be clad in Welsh slate. More than 1,700 sq m of dark blue grey riven stone slate from the Cwt-y-Bugail quarry in Snowdonia is due to be installed between now and May.

Once complete the scheme will provide 305,000 sq ft of office space and 9,000 sq ft of retail space.

Walsall-based Simco will carry out installation of the cladding on behalf of the main contractor, Balfour Beatty Construction.

The cladding material will be provided by Welsh//Slate, which employs more than 200 people across four quarry sites in North Wales, is a leading manufacturer of quality architectural slate products. Its products are used primarily for grade I and II listed buildings, plus high-end commercial and self build projects across the UK and globally.

Andy Carson, architectural sales manager at Welsh//Slate, said: “Welsh slate is a perfect fit for a prestigious commercial development such as Snow Hill.”
