Novo secures Thomas Cook sales device contract

WARWICKSHIRE mobile computing specialist Novo Ivc has secured its first UK customer for a new chip and pin technology-based system that can be used on aircraft.

Thomas Cook Airlines has invested in the system developed by the Leamington Spa firm which is a subsidiary of Yorkshire’s BelgraviumTechnologies.

The handsets used on the aircraft can also provide news and information to the crew and transmit sales reports within minutes of landing.

John Kembery, executive chairman of Belgravium Technologies, said: “We are delighted to have been able to work with ALPHA Inflight Retail in the successful installation of this system into the Thomas Cook Fleet, which is an airline with one of the highest levels of retail sales in the world.

“It is therefore critical that their electronic point of sale system is robust, multifunctional and easy to use and the feedback we received from the Thomas Cook air crew in pre-launch trials was very positive and confirmed this.

“Looking forward, we will continue to develop the software adding additional features and confident that our system will be a very attractive solution to the other airlines around the world with whom we are currently talking.”

Novo Ivc developed the system in partnership with ALPHA Inflight Retail which provides sales support to more than 30 airlines around the world.
