Top TV business journalist to address Press Club

WELL-known business journalist Jeff Randall is to be made a life member of Birmingham Press Club when he addresses the club’s celebrity luncheon later this year.

Randall will be addressing Press Club members and their guests on October 8 – prior to hosting his Sky News programme, Jeff Randall Live, from Birmingham’s ICC, where he will be interviewing leading politicians and senior businessmen at the end of the first day of the Conservative Party conference.

The hard-hitting interviewer, who is also the Daily Telegraph’s Editor-at-large, said: “I am hugely flattered to be offered the honour of life membership of the world’s oldest press club.”

His programme, Jeff Randall Live, has been a regular on Sky News since 2007, analysing the big business stories of the day.

He started his journalistic career on Financial Weekly, where he became assistant editor before moving in 1986 to the Sunday Telegraph as city correspondent. Since then, he has worked for a host of major news organisations in the UK including the BBC, where he became the corporation’s first business editor in 2001, the Times Newspapers and Sunday Business – which he launched and edited.

Press Club chairman Ed James said: “Breaking exclusives and Jeff Randall go hand-in-hand. I can’t wait to hear what disclosures he might have for us.

“Jeff’s authoritative writing and incisive television reporting have positioned him at the forefront of modern journalism. We look forward to hearing what he has to say about the issues and political personalities of the day – especially as he will meeting many of them face-to-face just a few hours later at the Tory Party conference.”
