40 laid off as SkillsfinderUK Training goes under

A NATIONAL training provider based in Birmingham has been placed into administration with the loss of 40 jobs.

SkillsfinderUK Training Limited, whose main office was in the Balsall Heath area, has been placed into administration following resolutions passed by the board of directors.

Craig Povey and Richard Toone, partners and restructuring specialists at accountancy firm Chantrey Vellacott DFK, have been appointed joint administrators.

SkillsfinderUK Training was established in 2007 and sub-contracted apprenticeship training services to around 75 organisations across the country.

Povey said around 450 learners have been directly or indirectly affected by the case and discussions are taking place with training providers to transfer services.

“SkillsfinderUK Training had a number of contracts to deliver training to young people between the ages of 16 and 24 which it sub-contracted out to various other providers,” he said.

“It appears the company’s business model failed which has in turn had a knock on affect to other training providers based all over the country.

“We are carrying out a full review of the assets of SkillsfinderUK Training and in discussions with providers to try and support the trainees who have been affected.

“All trading in SkillsfinderUK Training has ceased and regretfully due to insufficient funding the administrators have had to make all 40 of the company’s direct employees redundant.

“We will be issuing details of the joint administrators proposals in due course.”
