Plans add up for Brooke Smith as derelict warehouse makes way for new maths centre

A REDUNDANT warehouse site is to be transformed into a new facility as part of King Edward VI College in the centre of Stourbridge.
The move follows the grant of full planning consent for the redevelopment of the building on St John’s Road, formerly owned by fixings manufacturer De Saulles & Son.
The plan will see the site, which has been vacant and in a state of disrepair for a number of years, become a new mathematics centre for the college. The redundant warehouse will be demolished and replaced by a contemporary two-storey building containing seven classrooms.
Sustainability will be at the core of the development. The scheme incorporates a number of features such as photovoltaic panels to generate electricity. A dozen cycle parking spaces are planned to go next to the new building.
Brooke Smith Planning advised the college on the process.
Keir Price, planner at Brooke Smith Planning, said: “This is an imaginative and contemporary development. It will provide modern teaching accommodation, which will help King Edward VI College remain one of the top further education institutions in the West Midlands.”
