Stratford instruction is the icing on the cake for Colliers

PROPERTY consultancy Colliers International has won the brief to manage 23-24 High Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, on behalf of the Kunzle Trust.

The trust was set up by descendants of Christian Kunzle, the Swiss cake and confectionary maker whose Garrett’s Green, Birmingham, factory, at its height, churned out more than 40,000 of its famous ‘Showboat’ cakes every week.

The company, which began life in Birmingham in the 1920s, was sold to Fullers in 1964 and later became part of the Lyons empire.

One of the original Kunzle Cafés was housed in the three-storey timber-framed listed premises, part of which is circa 400 years old, in Stratford. The building is now let to Italian chain Strada and Fresh Baguette.

Colliers International’s Investment Property Management (IPM) along with its commercial lease consultancy team has also been reappointed to manage Stratford-upon-Avon Town Trust’s £35m property portfolio.

The charitable trust, set up in the sixteenth century by Edward VI, boasts more than 100 properties in the town, the income from which is returned to the community in the form of grants.

Colliers International’s nine-year consultancy term has been extended for a further two years.
