St Modwen ready to move on to next stage of Longbridge scheme

DEVELOPER St Modwen has submitted five planning applications aimed at delivering the next phase of regeneration at Longbridge.

The Birmingham firm has submitted further planning applications to release three new residential development sites, together with associated road infrastructure and site preparation works.

In total the sites at Lickey Road and Low Hill Lane will provide up to 400 new apartments and houses including affordable houses to rent and buy through shared equity.

David Dodge, senior residential development surveyor, said: “New homes at Longbridge have already proved extremely popular, all properties are now sold in the first two phases of our Park View development.

“Not only are we delivering high quality physical regeneration but with a construction cost estimate of almost £50m we will be supporting the creation of around another 160 full time construction jobs per year over the lifetime of the sites.”

A detailed planning application has also been submitted for new infrastructure at Longbridge, including new roads to provide access to the new residential areas as well as opening up access to the employment areas.

The final application is on behalf of Bournville College to create a specialist Construction Centre, comprising more than 30,000 sq ft of specialist education accommodation on the Longbridge Technology Park.

Mike Murray, senior development surveyor at St Modwen, said: “The regeneration of Longbridge is really gathering pace, following the opening of the new town centre at the end of August.

“The purpose built Construction Centre for Bournville College is further proof of our commitment to deliver on our ambitions for a mixed use, community focused environment in which to live, work and socialise.”
