NEC set to host popular classic car show

THE NEC is set to stage one of its most popular motoring exhibitions. The Solihull venue will play host to around 250 classic motoring clubs for this year’s Classic Motor Show.

The event this year celebrates its 30th anniversary. Staged between November 15 and 17, this year’s show theme is ‘classics reunited’ giving visitors the opportunity to find the cars they used to own.

With a promise to have over 1,500 cars on display, Britain’s best motoring clubs will be pulling out all the stops to showcase rare and exciting marques ranging from pre-war through to retro classics, American muscle cars to Japanese performance, European elegance to British sports cars and many more.

One of those on display will be Jaguar’s aborted C-X75 supercar. It will form the centrepiece of the Jaguar Classic Parts stand. The stand is a collaboration with Jaguar Heritage and will boast an impressive selection of classic and modern Jaguars.

The centrepiece of the car displays is the Meguiar’s Club Showcase, which brings together the best concours cars from the club events throughout the year before crowning a winner as Car of the Year. The winner is announced on Sunday November 15.

Other features include the Live Stage, hosted by Wheeler Dealer presenters Mike Brewer and Edd China with restoration challenges, special guests such as Sir Stirling Moss.

Silverstone Auctions will be returning with a sale of classic cars, motorcycles and memorabilia, which has been expanded to two sale days. Viewing will take place each morning with a sale in the afternoon.

The impressive Restoration Theatre has a team of mechanics ready to show visitors exactly how to tackle all aspects of restoring a cherished classic car. For those focused on driving classics, the Sporting Bear’s Dream Rides Garage gives visitors the chance to book a 10-mile ride as a passenger in exchange for a charitable donation.

Headline sponsor Lancaster Insurance’s ‘Gran Torino Experience’ stand will give visitors the chance to have their photo taken next to the famous red Gran Torino that featured in the hit TV show ‘Starksy & Hutch’. The ‘Blast from the Past’ stand reunites people with classic cars, famous scenes and décor from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s.
