Funeral business Mortons commits to refurbishment programme after funding deal

A WEST Midland funeral directors has refurbished its Rubery office and introduced new services for clients after securing new funding support.
V Morton & Sons Ltd was established by Albert Morton in 1898, and in addition to Rubery has offices in Northfield and Cotteridge.
The business, which employs 26 staff, arranges and directs funerals across the West Midlands. It is now run by Miles Morton, the grandson of the business founder, and managing director Derek Case.
When the business decided to embark on a major refurbishment programme, it approached long term banking provider Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking for a finance package.
The intention was to support the first stage of the refurbishment programme, which was centred around the Rubery operation.
The business implemented plans to modernise the Victorian building, making it a more pleasant and comfortable environment for clients. The refurbishment project included the input of improved facilities, such as better access for those with mobility requirements and a chapel of rest for visitors to pay their last respects.
The business is now looking to modernise its head office in Northfield, together with its Cotteridge office next year.
Derek Case said: “We have been keen to refurbish our Rubery office for some time, in order to enhance the supportive and compassionate surroundings and service we offer to clients.
“The complete restoration of our premises has created a more modern, light and comfortable environment in which to support our clients through the difficult time of their bereavement.
“The funding provided by Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking has enabled us to dramatically improve the building facilities, a footprint we are now looking to replicate across our other offices.”
Giles Wheeler, relationship manager at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, said: “V Morton & Sons is a family-run business that has built up a strong reputation for its efficient service to people across the West Midlands for more than a century.
“Combined with the business’ caring and professional staff, the improvements to the Rubery office have ensured that V Morton & Sons’ facilities are second to none.”
