Higgs’ private client team enjoys a surge in business

BLACK Country law firm Higgs & Sons’ private client team has had a record year with turnover growing by 13%.

The Brierley Hill-based firm has now set similar growth targets for the next financial year as part of a strategic plan to grow the team into a national private client practice.

Senior partner Nick Moxon, who is also head of the private client team, said the 200-strong firm had seen a strong increase in the number of cases and clients it handled alongside the recruitment of nationally-respected specialists.

He said: “This has been an incredibly successful year for Higgs & Sons and one that we can look back on with real satisfaction and pride.

“Our growth in turnover has firmly established us as one of the most significant private client practices outside the capital, something which is underlined by the strength of some of the new appointments we have been able to make.

“We have invested a considerable amount of time and capital into building the strongest-possible team who can provide top-quality private client work under the leadership of some very high-profile experienced practitioners.”

The private client team now boasts 23 fee earners out of a team of 35, while the firm as a whole had more than 100 lawyers for the first time in its 138-year history.

Moxon added: “Our success is undoubtedly based on the quality of our staff, many of whom are leaders in their specialist fields. Our aim is to recruit more top-class private client lawyers attracted to the quality of work we can now offer.

“To that end we will look to achieve similar levels of growth again next year to firmly establish Higgs as a premier private client team on the national stage and to best meet the needs of our clients.”
