London Midland thanks commuters for NOT travelling on its trains

TRAIN operator London Midland has taken the rather unusual approach to business of thanking people for not using its services.

Journeys to and from London Euston were disrupted over the Bank Holiday weekend due to maintenance work. Further disruption is expected throughout the summer and into next year.

The improvements, taking place in and around Watford, prompted timetable changes and replacement coach travel.

The work is part of Network Rail’s £81m plan to upgrade the West Coast Main Line between Milton Keynes and London Euston.

London Midland, together with other train operators, had urged travellers to make alternative arrangements ahead of the work.

Barrie Cottam, London Midland’s Head of West Coast Services, said: “It was clear that many of our passengers got the message to plan their journey with another operator or to avoid travel altogether.

“This really helped and we are grateful to those who made alternative plans.
“Our teams did a good job ensuring that passengers travelling with London Midland reached their destination as quickly and easily as possible.

“Our efforts are now focussed on doing an even better job during the August closures.

“I’d like to thank passengers for the patience, understanding and cooperation that they displayed over the weekend.”
