Developer sought for Selly Oak Hospital site

PROPERTY agents have begun the search for a firm capable of redeveloping the largest residential / mixed use development opportunity to come to the market in Birmingham in the last 10 years.  

The 43-acre site based around the former Selly Oak Hospital is being brought to market following the decommissioning of the facility after the opening of the super Queen Elizabeth super hospital nearby.

DTZ has been instructed by University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) to find a purchaser for the site, which has outline planning permission for up to 650 dwellings as well a number of other uses including shops, restaurant and cafes, and office space.

The site is around two miles south west of Birmingham city centre with the main concentration of hospital buildings located on the northern side of Raddlebarn Road. Most of the buildings were built prior to 1900 although there have been numerous contemporary additions and replacement structures.
