Work starts on £3m Warwick business park with five units already sold

WORK on a multi-million pound development to convert a former engineering plant in Warwick into a job-creating enterprise centre has got under way.

The scheme will see the former dumper truck factory in Lower Cape redeveloped into the £3m St George’s Business Park. The land has lain idle for the last decade.

With the help of Leamington property consultants ehB Commercial, Warwick engineering and property company Kigass has already sold five of the 11 industrial units due to occupy the new business park.

Simon Hain, a director of ehB Commercial, said: “We have a wide range of businesses interested in the mixed site – from doors and window manufacturers to automotive companies.”

To officially mark the start of work on the site, Kigass organised a traditional sod-cutting ceremony, turning to long-serving Kigass accountant Monica Evans to turn the first piece of earth.

Monica started work at Kigass 67 years ago as an accounts clerk when she was just 19. Now 86 she is still managing the books at the family-owned company, which today operates a major engineering business and an extensive property portfolio that includes industrial, commercial and residential locations.

She said: “I love working for Kigass – it has been my life and will continue to be important to me. Looking forward, I am very honoured to be a part of the future as the business continues to grow and create new jobs for the area.”
