Christie & Co appointed to sale of Rugby off-licence

SPECIALIST property adviser Christie + Co has been instructed to sell a popular off licence in Rugby.

The business trades under the Bargain Booze banner, Britain’s biggest off-licence chain. Founded in 1981 with one shop in Sandbach, Cheshire, the off-licence chain now has more than 600 outlets around the UK.

The store, part of a shopping parade within a densely residential area, has been trading successfully for a number of years. However, a change in personal circumstances for the operator led to the shop closing for around three months.

The freeholder has since re-opened the shop and in the months that have followed has achieved sales of around £14,000 per week and rising.

Stephen Bell of Christie + Co’s Birmingham office is handling the sale.

He said: “The business would be an ideal proposition for an ambitious and energetic owner operator who can extend the opening times whilst also introducing a wider range of convenience lines and frozen produce. These enhancements will significantly increase the weekly sales whilst also keeping additional staffing levels and overheads to a minimum, therefore maximising overall profitability.”
