Emerald MD set to sparkle on Chinese trade mission

WARWICKSHIRE technology businesswoman Sarah Windrum has been selected by UK Trade & Investment to spearhead a high profile trade mission to China.

Ms Windrum is founder of Leamington Spa-based Emerald Business Communications. The firm provides a fully managed mobile technology solution targeted at businesses in the logistics and construction industries.

The firm works with local companies including Britannia Squab and New Horizon Logistics as well as national businesses such as Breezemount UK, which is the home delivery partner for Ikea in the UK.

Ms Windrum will travel with other businesses selected for the Technology is Great mission in order to champion UK technology. The event takes place at the Shanghai World Expo Center this month.

She said: “I was invited to attend a UKTI webinar regarding Smart Technology and they then invited businesses to put in an application for the trade missions to Asia.

“I had not thought about exports being applicable to service industries like mine but after speaking with Kati Hope from the UKTI West Midlands team it became clear that it was something worth pursuing. I was thrilled to be accepted on the mission to China and I am very excited about championing Warwickshire and UK technology.”

Ms Hope added: “UK service providers are well regarded around the world, we are the third largest services exporter behind the US and Germany. We look forward to working with Emerald to help them investigate and hopefully realise the opportunities in China.”
