Housing associations key to Mazars’ growth plans

THE Birmingham office of accountancy firm Mazars has expanded its client base in the social housing sector, winning six new audit contracts in September.

And managing partner Lee Cartwright says that there is a healthy pipeline of new opportunities in the sector.

Mazars has been working with housing associations since 1985 and Birmingham is the national centre of excellence for its social housing work, with a specialist team of four partners and more than 20 managers and technical staff based there.

Cartwright said: “It is a very important sector for us.

“Nationwide we work with over 160 housing associations and the number is growing all the time. It is a real success story, we have built up a lot of expertise into their needs and requirements, and we have an excellent reputation in the sector.”

Amongst its contract wins, Mazars will be providing external audit to United Communities, a consortium involving Bristol Community Housing Foundation, Bristol Living and United Housing Association.

Other new contracts include Gloucester City Homes and Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd.
