Movers & Shakers event to discuss mixed-use development

A PANEL of property and development experts are set to offer their views on the property sector’s current trend of delivering mixed-use developments.
Part of the Movers & Shakers series of professional networking events, guests will hear the five-strong panel address topics including the delivery of infrastructure, how ambitious developments will be financed and what elements need to go into the development of a successful mixed-use scheme.
The panel will feature John Milligan from Milligan Retail, which has undertaken the current refurbishment of the Mailbox, Waheed Nazir, director of planning and regeneration at Birmingham City Council, Paul Kehoe, chief executive of Birmingham Airport, Andy Street, managing director of John Lewis and head of the Greater Birmingham LEP, and Rob Groves from developer Argent.
The discussion, which will be chaired by David Smeeton from Colliers International, will also cover the upcoming General Election and outcomes from this year’s MIPIM property conference in Cannes.
The event will take place on Friday 24th April at the Macdonald Burlington Hotel in Birmingham city centre, with coffee and networking from 7.30am.
The quarterly Movers & Shakers breakfasts are open to senior executives from across the property sector and offer opportunities for networking over coffee, followed by breakfast and a panel discussion.
Event organiser Phil Laycock, said: “Property developers are no longer looking to deliver single-use buildings or developments. This event will look at those developments in the Midlands that have stood the test of time, those that have failed to deliver and those that are due to be brought to the market.
“The timing of this event is perfect, following what has been mooted as one of the most successful MIPIM events since the recession and what promises to be a fiercely fought General Election on the horizon, the results of which will have repercussions for the UK property sector.
“With all of these factors in play and an outstanding line-up on our panel, we’re anticipating a lively and interesting discussion.”
Tickets for the event, which includes coffee networking and breakfast are £45 + VAT. Further information here .
