Lifestyle: Grammy nominees set to rock The Jam House

BIRMINGHAM’S live music and food venue, The Jam House is rolling out the red carpet ready to greet some of rock ‘n’ roll’s new royalty.
The St Paul’s Square venue is set to host shows from Grammy nominated acts Hamilton Loomis and Basil Gabbidon.
Soulful guitarist, Hamilton Loomis, who was born and raised in Galveston, Texas will play the Jewellery Quarter club tonight (Wednesday).
Having come from a musical family, Loomis developed numerous skills as a multi-instrumentalist, learning drums, piano, guitar, and harmonica as an adolescent. By the age of 14, he was writing, arranging, and performing his own material. In 1994, he released his first album, Hamilton, which earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Album of the Year.
Loomis said: “Birmingham is one of our favourite cities to tour and we are so excited to be back at the Jam House. The crowd and the city is always so inviting and we always have the best audience. We were last here about a year ago and we have the whole band with new songs and some surprises in store.”
Basil Gabbidon, founding member and lead guitarist of world-renowned reggae band, Steel Pulse, will takes to the stage on Wednesday June 24.
Gabbidon, along with Steel Pulse, went on to receive three Grammy nominations for their contributions to the world of reggae music.
After four successful albums, the Birmingham native returned to his Handsworth home to form Bassdance with his brother Colin and recorded two albums, ‘Loud’ and ‘Louder.’ Reggae Rockz, the name of his latest album, is taken from the joint production between Gabbidon and the Symphony Hall in 2005 when all of Birmingham’s international reggae bands performed in Centenary Square.
