Galliford Try wins contract to build Birmingham’s new Conservatoire

CONSTRUCTION firm Galliford Try has signed contracts with Birmingham City University to build the new £46m Conservatoire in central Birmingham.

The new building, designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, will move the Conservatoire from its existing home to the Eastside area of the city centre, adjacent to the university’s Parkside building.

The facility will house teaching facilities and a 500-seat auditorium as well as two additional performance spaces.

The former Conservatoire had to move to make way for the large-scale Paradise development.

Greg Fitzgerald, Galliford Try’s executive chairman, said: “We are delighted to be involved in such a high-profile and significant project for both Birmingham and the surrounding area.

“We look forward to working with Birmingham City University and the design team to produce a world-class musical facility for both the students and the wider community.”
