Solihull site sold for homes scheme
CBRE has disposed of a 0.12 hectare site in Lode Lane, Solihull, on behalf of Solihull Council.
The site, which includes a Victorian lodge, has been sold to Gidney Developments for an undisclosed sum following a detailed two stage marketing process.
Gidney will develop the site in partnership with Birmingham-based St Bernards Property.
The developer is planning to convert the Victorian lodge, the former home of the council’s Youth Service Team, into three houses. A further six mews homes will be built within the courtyard development.
A formal application for the scheme will be submitted to the council in November 2015.
The council had expressed a preference that the Victorian lodge, although not listed, be retained.
The site attracted considerable interest resulting in a range of bids from a number of parties, including residential developers, nursery operators and a retailer, along with various community associations.
Caroline Mitchell-Sanders, a director in the regeneration and development consultancy team at CBRE, said: “There was keen interest in this site, being so close to Solihull town centre.
“The end use is in keeping with the site’s residential surroundings and will bring much-needed new homes to the area.”
