Developers set to meet conditions relating to Cincinnati works housing scheme

A HOUSING developer has applied for planning permission to abide by conditions relating to the construction of more than 100 new homes on the site of a landmark Birmingham factory.
Birmingham City Council granted planning permission subject to conditions for the new housing development on the site of the former Cincinnati works in Erdington shortly before Christmas.
The development will comprise 83 houses and 18 apartments; Linden Homes will develop 52 properties for the open market with the remaining 49 being affordable housing for Accord Housing Group.
Construction partner Galliford Try has applied for permission to meet the conditions laid down by the local authority which cover ecological requirements, lighting levels, materials, drainage, construction management and various landscaping measures.
Linden said the scheme would be “a stunning development of two, three and four bedroom homes, including a number of canal fronting properties”.
The Cincinnati works ceased produced in 2007 after 73 years supplying machine tools.
The site was acquired then acquired by developer Urban Splash but after a series of short term leases it was unable to secure a tenant for the site and so unlike its other eye-catching properties in Birmingham such as The Rotunda and the nearby Fort Dunlop, it remained empty.
