£4m to be invested into tech campus after expansion plans approved

£4m will be spent on expanding Malvern Hills Science Park after the plans for a fifth phase of the development were approved.
Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership is to invest in the site to fund a 16,000 sq ft, two-storey building that can be used as grow-on space for existing businesses or to attract companies to the park.
The campus is already home to a cluster of IT and cyber security companies as well as the National Cyber Skills Centre.
Alan White, chief executive of the Malvern Hills Science Park, said: “Clearing the old factory premises to make way for Phase 5 will transform the approach to and the look of the park into something far more befitting of the world class technologies under development here, as well as bringing new opportunities and new jobs to Malvern and beyond.”
The planning committee at Worcestershire County Council approved the plans, with the building work expected to start this summer and last for nine months.
It is the next phase and follows the 30,000 sq ft development, which is now home to UTC Aerospace Systems.
Cllr Rob Adams, chairman of the planning and regulatory committee, added: “The area in and around Malvern has a strong history of being a centre for invention, innovation and the development of new technology. This continues today with the growth of high tech and cyber security firms on the current Science Park and will be further strengthened with the development of this new facility.”
