Office and homes scheme put forward for Worcester site

DEVELOPER St Modwen has completed its purchase of a prominent 19-acre site in Worcester from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
The Quinton-based company is now seeking planning permission for residential and office development on the site, which is situated about two miles south east of the city centre, off the A44 Whittington Road.
Jonathan Green, senior development surveyor at St. Modwen, said: “We have submitted a planning application for 120 new houses, 36 of which will be affordable, plus 150,000 sq ft of offices, which are in line with the South Worcestershire Development Plan.
“Our housebuilding business, St. Modwen Homes, has successfully developed 168 new homes at the nearby Gregorys Bank development over the last three years. Should we achieve additional consent at Whittington Road, work will continue to deliver more high quality family homes within Worcester.”
Also in Worcester, St. Modwen has recently completed the construction of 25,000 sq ft of new employment space on a speculative basis at Great Western Business Park, and has secured planning consent for a further 65,000 sq ft, along with a bespoke unit for Travis Perkins.
