Marco Pierre White opens fourth restaurant in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM can’t get enough of celebrity chef Marco Pierre White at the moment as his fourth restaurant opened in the city this week. Bardolino, which is named after the chef’s mother’s home town in Italy, launched on the bottom floor of The Cube on Tuesday.

The restaurant joins the list of Marco Pierre White’s other restaurants in the city, including the New York Italian at the Holiday Inn Birmingham Airport, English Chophouse at Hotel La Tour on Albert Street and Steakhouse, Bar & Grill, which is also in The Cube.

BardolinoMore than £500,000 was spent on the restaurant, which sits next to the canal just a stone’s throw away from The Mailbox and a short walk from Brindleyplace.

The restaurant, which classes itself as a premium casual dining experience, shares a lobby with an event space next door, which will open towards the end of the summer and will eventually be able to fit over 250 people.

Restaurant manager Kal Purewal, 39, who recently left his career in law for his love of hospitality, explained how the restaurant has been finished to Marco Pierre White’s exceptional standard.

BardolinoHe said: “Marco is passionate about this restaurant because of what it represents, which is the town of Bardolino where his mother is from and the concept of the restaurant is built around that, it is warm and friendly.

“Marco’s vision for the place is very family orientated and an entertaining and relaxing place. We’re right by the canal too and it is a great spot as it is a place where lots of families live, there is retail space just next door in The Mailbox and we are in such an iconic building here.

“It is not overpowering here and it is relaxing with ambience, it’s an amazing spot.”
