JS Wright secures £1.7m contract for luxury apartment scheme

BIRMINGHAM building services provider J S Wright has secured a contract worth more than £1.7m to fit out a new luxury apartment development in the city.

The firm, based in Aston, has been appointed by Wates Construction as lead coordinator for the mechanical and electrical services fit out of the 22-storey Left Bank scheme.

It will equip 189 apartments ranging from studios to one and two-bedroom flats in the first of two residential towers within the £40m development.

The services package for each apartment will include energy saving heat recovery ventilation, domestic water services, boosted cold water, wet risers and water sprinklers, as well as sanitary ware, soil and waste services and above-ground drainage.

Wates is developing the apartment scheme on behalf of Regal Property Group on a redundant car park site between Sheepcote Street and Oozells Way, off Broad Street.

In addition, J S Wright will complete a shell and core fit out of the ground floor of the building to incorporate retail units.

The development has been designed by architect Glancy Nicholls, which has incorporated bronze-toned metal cladding in the design in recognition of the electroplating industry that grew up along Broad Street.

J S Wright, which is currently carrying out the enabling works for the £500m Paradise Birmingham redevelopment in the city centre, will begin work on site on the Left Bank scheme in April next year, with completion scheduled for June 2018.

The firm is no strange to the city’s high-rise residential market, having previously worked on the 26-storey Orion Building.

Marcus Aniol, managing director of J S Wright, said: “Having celebrated our 125th anniversary as a local company last year, we are delighted to be able to use our experience, skills and expertise to help regenerate Birmingham’s Broad Street as a vibrant area to live, work and shop.”
