More bank closures in city

Two more bank branches are to close in Birmingham after TSB became the latest bank to announce a raft of closures.

Its Priory and Small Heath branches are among 29 closures announced, although the bank said there will be no job losses as staff will be redeployed.

TSB said: “While we continue to focus on upgrading the branches that people use most, some locations are very quiet, serving fewer than 200 people a week.

“In some cases this is because there is another branch less than a mile away.”

Last month HSBC announced 62 branch closures, including seven in the West Midlands, while Yorkshire Building Society is also to shut a number of branches around the country.
