Property Appointments: Jones Lang LaSalle, Bruton Knowles, RICS, DTZ

COMMERCIAL real estate services company Jones Lang LaSalle has announced two new appointments in its shopping centre management team based in Birmingham.

Olivia Lee, who has four years of commercial property experience, has joined as a senior surveyor from the Birmingham office of real estate advisors DTZ.

She will focus on client relationship management and on-site shopping centre management of several schemes in the Midlands and across the UK for clients including Standard Life, LaSalle Investment Management and Scottish Widows.

Louise Borthwick has joined as a surveying executive. She will assist the team working on three shopping centres – Queensgate in Peterborough, Castle Quay in Banbury and the Market Centre in Crewe.

Jan Thompson, head of Jones Lang LaSalle’s Birmingham office, said: “Olivia and Louise’s appointments will contribute to the continued success of our shopping centre management business in Birmingham.”

PROPERTY consultancy Bruton Knowles has boosted its building surveying team with the appointment of surveyor Gurdip Chamba.

His career spans over 20 years of building surveying consultancy and he has also been chairman of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors West Midlands branch.

Mr Chamba joins Bruton’s Birmingham office from chartered surveyors Salway Bradbury, in Solihull, where he has worked for the past two years.

In his new role, he will be providing building consultancy and project management advice.

DAVID Bucknall has been appointed chairman of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors’ UK Quantity Surveyor and Construction Professional Group Board.

Mr Bucknall, who is chairman of Birmingham-based property and construction practice Rider Levett Bucknall, will head up a newly-appointed member board responsible for engaging with quantity surveyor practices, members and UK and international governments.

Members of the board are drawn from a variety of roles and practices across the sector, in order to form a strong lead for RICS in the construction field.

ONE of Birmingham’s leading commercial property figures is retiring after 38 years with the same company.

Geoff Thomas, regional chairman with real estate advisors DTZ’s Midlands and South West operations, is stepping down at the end of December.
