Grade-II listed town house launches to market for £650,000

A Grade-II listed guest house in Richmond, North Yorkshire, has been launched to market with a price tag of  £650,000.

The Castle House occupies a three storey building, parts of which date back to the early eighteenth century, including original features such as exposed wooden beams.

The public areas include a breakfast room and residents’ lounge, and the letting accommodation comprises The Richmond Suite, The Redmire Room, The Aysgarth Room, The Wensley Suite and The Easby Room.

Additionally, the owner’s accommodation is featured on the site which includes three double en suite bedrooms, a lounge and large kitchen.

Current owners, Lucy Rawlins and Ian Mellish, opened the doors of The Castle House after completing renovations to the Georgian town house.

David Lee, regional director – North East at Christie & Co, which is handling the sale, said: “The Castle House has been operated by Lucy and Ian for the past six years. One of the best of its type in the area, the guest house has been awarded the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence five years running since 2014.

“The business is currently closed six weeks out of the year and employs a team of staff, presenting a new owner with the opportunity to take a more hands-on approach and increase turnover by incorporate some or all of the owner’s accommodation into additional letting accommodation.”
