PHP snaps up Health Care Matters

THE Private Health Partnership (PHP), part of Skipton Building Society, has acquired Health Care Matters for an undisclosed sum.
PHP, an independent consultancy providing information and advice on private medical, dental and travel insurance schemes for companies and individuals, has added to a number of recent purchases following its latest deal.
Health Care Matters was established in 1993 by George Connelly who is retiring after more than 30 years in the private medical insurance industry following the acquisition.
The Health Care Matters portfolio has £1.2m annual premium income predominantly made up from individual clients with a national geographical spread.
Jan Lawson, managing director of PHP, based in Baildon, West Yorkshire, said, “Health Care Matters has an excellent reputation for valuing all its customers and George wanted to ensure his clients would be very well looked after.
“We have an excellent track record of integrating businesses into the PHP infrastructure ensuring a smooth transition for the clients, corporate and individual, who are always and without exception our most important priority.”
Mr Connelly said: “I have known Jan Lawson for more than 15 years. When I finally took the decision to retire I wanted to be sure my clients would be looked after by a business which is customer focused with a strong reputation for service
“The values held by PHP and their commitment to treating customers fairly, which has been evident within the business for more than 20 years, convinced me they had the right ethos to ensure my clients continue to receive tailored independent advice and a professional service of the highest standard.”
The Health Care Matters deal is PHP’s ninth acquisition since becoming part of Skipton Building Society group and the company said it was looking to expand further and is interested in talking to intermediaries considering selling either their business or private medical insurance portfolios.
PHP also has a base in Hove, East Sussex. The company looks after more than 8,300 corporate and company clients, trade associations and individuals nationwide and manages an annual premium value in excess of £40m.
