Appointments: New partner for growing corporate finance boutique; BHP welcomes trio of tax advisors; and more

LEEDS-based corporate finance boutique Ethos has appointed former finance director and corporate financier Andrew Walls as partner.

Mr Walls is a chartered accountant who qualified with an independent firm of accountants and has since held roles within the corporate finance, banking and the property sectors.

He joined Begbies Traynor in 2003, where he developed both his insolvency and turnaround skills, followed by a secondment to RBS where he was involved in the management of the bank’s higher risk portfolio.

He then moved to a role at McInnes Corporate Finance, providing lead advisory services in a wide range of M&A transactions.

CHARTERED accountant and business advisor Barber Harrison & Platt Barber Harrison & Platt(BHP) in South Yorkshire has hired three more business tax specialists.

The team, led by partner David Charlton and head of corporate tax, Zoe Roberts, has welcomed Nick Davies, Nicola Hewitt and Graeme Davies.

Nick Davies will focus on employer solutions. He will work with employers in structuring remuneration as effectively as possible to enhance the value of the package for personnel and provide savings to the employer.

Ms Hewitt, a qualified solicitor with over four years’ experience in corporate tax, will use her specialist legal knowledge to advise clients on tax structures.

Chartered tax advisor Graeme Davies has been brought on board to advise businesses on corporate tax and tax planning, helping to manage liabilities, as well as planning for the longer term.

LEEDS-based brand marketing specialist Osmosis Brand Communications has appointed Lorraine Ellison MBE as advisor to its board.

She will help the company to identify and develop new UK and international trade opportunities and help achieve its ambitious 30% growth target over the next 12 months.

Ms Ellison was awarded her MBE for services to international trade and has worked with a number of businesses across various sectors.

Her current positions include business manager to Lord Digby Jones, advisor to Dame Kelly Holmes, and UK Trade and Investment, as well as non-executive director at food distributor Petty Wood.

BUS operator Stagecoach Yorkshire has strengthened its team with the appointment of a new marketing assistant.

Amy Ruston will be closely involved with the company’s community role and further development of the network’s services throughout Barnsley, the Dearne Valley, Sheffield and Chesterfield.
