Multi-million pound council deal for Wates

Wates Living Space has been appointed by Sheffield City Council to deliver adaptations works to around 500 public and private sector properties across the city each year.

As part of a three-year contract worth £5m, Wates will carry out work to make the homes of elderly and disabled individuals safer and more accessible.

The social housing maintenance provider has appointed a specialist team of 19 to deliver the works.

This appointment follows Wates Living Space’s successful delivery of the council’s window and door refurbishment programme, which has seen the team install 5,000 doors and 2,000 windows at around 3,500 homes across the city to date.

John Flower, business director at Wates Living Space, said: “We are delighted to be growing our already strong relationship with Sheffield City Council – our being awarded this contract is testament to the excellent work we have previously undertaken on its behalf. Adaptations such as these have to be of the highest standard, allowing people with sometimes complex needs to live independently in their own homes, confident in the knowledge they are as safe and secure as possible.

“We look forward to delivering further high-quality maintenance works across Sheffield, making a real difference to the lives of people throughout the city.”
