Cocktail bar Dirty Martini set to take over well-known Leeds pub

A well-known pub in the centre of Leeds is set to be taken over by London cocktail brand Dirty Martini.

Atlas House on King Street in Leeds will see the London brand moving in after the cocktail bar applied to Leeds City Council for a licence for the site. Licensing documents were filed on Friday (7 July).

Formerly the Bank of Ireland building, it was also home to restaurant Create before it was turned into the Atlas Bar in 2013. It was closed down last year before being rebranded and reopened in October 2016 as a German beer hall, dubbed Atlas Brauhaus.

Covent Garden-based DC Bars Limited, trading as Dirty Martini, already has seven sites in London and one in Cardiff, so the Leeds site will be its first outside a capital city.

According to the licence application, if approved the new bar will be open 11am- 12.30am Sunday to Wednesday, with late night openings until 1.30 on Thursday and 3.30 on Friday and Saturday.

A previous application for the site at Minerva House was rejected.

Tom Hodgson of Pudney Shuttleworth who are facilitating the deal, said: “It would be great to see this highly acclaimed London brand in Leeds.

“Whilst the deal itself is not yet signed, all parties involved are looking to have this tied up in the coming weeks subject to getting the relative consents from the local authorities…watch this space!”
