£1m storage facility opens in Harrogate
A £1m self storage centre in Harrogate has opened its doors.
The new, purpose built facility is an extension to the existing McCarthy’s Storage World on Ripon Road, increasing its self storage capacity by 50%. Set behind the current building, the new facility has had a waiting list for several months, and has now seen the first occupants gain access.
Storage units ranging from 16 sq ft to 500 sq ft will be available, along with bespoke units which can be created to order. One 4,000 sq ft warehouse unit is also available on a flexible lease basis. Each unit is fitted with an alarm, and the site is monitored by CCTV and onsite security and has unique pin code access.
A new store manager, Victoria Coggill, has been appointed. Further recruitment is planned over the coming months.
Mike McCarthy, managing director of McCarthy’s Removals and Storage, said: “We’re really pleased to have opened the doors to our new Harrogate storage centre. We’ve been planning it for a long time as we were often running at full capacity, so it’s great to now have more than enough space available. We’re also excited to be offering a 4,000 sq ft warehouse on site – we’re aware that kind of space can be hard to find in Harrogate, so I’m hopeful it will be of use to a local business.
“Many of our customers are homemovers who might be decluttering, downsizing or needing to move into storage before they get the keys to their new property. But in addition, we’re seeing a lot of interest from SMEs, looking for extra storage, workshop space or somewhere to ‘pick and pack’. With the rise in independent online retailers, self storage is a cost effective way to gain space, without having to pay over the odds for offices, or give up your spare room or garage. Units can also be used for document archiving to free up office space for organisations.”
Trading since 1970, McCarthy’s is a family business primarily known for its private and commercial removals and storage services. Operating across Yorkshire, it also has storage facilities in Leeds and Wakefield. In addition, McCarthy’s offers a range of business services including document management, archive storage and confidential document shredding.
